BRAZILIAN ADOLESCENTS AND THE RECREATIONAL USE OF PSYCHOTROPIC SUBSTANCES

A PSYCHOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE ON RISK AND PROTECTIVE FACTORS

Abstract

This project proposes an approach to reducing harm regarding the use of psychotropic substances among adolescents in Brusque (SC) on a recreational basis. That is, the use of a substance with the aim of generating pleasure, fun or relaxation, without therapeutic or medicinal purposes. By focusing on the age range between approximately 12 and 20 years old, we identify this period as critical, permeated by historical-social complexities related to the organization of family structures and the construction of interpersonal relationships throughout the young person's psychological development, significantly affecting their systems. bioecological and, consequently, making mental suffering conducive, which in turn, can be configured as a driving force for the behavior of using psychoactives. The experience report materializes through an integrative project, focused on awareness. This is implemented through annual lectures and social activities, especially in the months of September and January, in line with the Yellow September and White January campaigns. Collaboration with local public entities reinforces the efficient implementation of the project. In short, while we recognize that our approach may not completely resolve the challenges presented, we are confident that the awareness process catalyzed by these actions will have a significant impact on mitigating this concerning scenario.
