CULTURA POPULAR E RELIGIOSIDADE DE JOVENS DO CONTESTADO

Resumo

O Contestado é considerado um dos maiores movimentos populares da história do Brasil e, até o momento, poucos espaços foram abertos para uma leitura autêntica dos seus aspectos culturais e religiosos. Vale considerar que diversos jovens assumiram um papel de destaque nesse movimento. E na atualidade muitos jovens procuram resgatar essa memória como elemento indispensável na busca de um novo mundo possível. O Contestado continua, hoje, muito presente na vida de sofrimento e na memória dos descendentes dos que participaram dessa guerra. Ele produziu uma mística própria que se traduz numa espécie de identidade cultural do povo da região. Essa mística sobrevive nos mitos, nos rituais religiosos e na tradição oral dos descendentes do Contestado. Esse movimento não acabou e também não é coisa do passado. Naquele seu primeiro estágio, que culminou na guerra, ele foi aniquilado e com o uso das mais sofisticadas tecnologias de guerra da época. Porém, ele continua vivo na cultura popular, na religiosidade, nas lutas e esperanças dos jovens, descendentes do Contestado.

Abstract

The Contestado War is considered one of the greatest rebellions in the history of Brazil but, up to the moment, few spaces were opened for an authentic reading of its cultural and religious aspects. It’s important to consider that many young people assumed a prominent role in this war. Nowadays, many young people seek to rescue this memory as an indispensable element in the quest for a new possible world. The Contestado War is still very present in the sufferings, dreams and memories of the descendants of those who participated in that war. It created a mystique that translates itself into a kind of cultural identity of the people from the region. That mystique survives in the myths, religious rituals and the oral traditions of its descendants. This war is not over, and it is not just something from the past. At its first stage, which culminated in the war, it was annihilated with the use of the most sophisticated technologies of war at the time. However, it's still alive in the popular culture, in religion, in the struggles and hopes of young people, the war descendants.
