Abstract

The tomato yields obtained in the state and in research stations, the productivity records and the yield potential obtained by mathematical model were compared with each other in order to determine which are the potential gains in tomato productivity in Santa Catarina. The productivity obtained in experimental stations and the region's productivity records show possibilities of increasing productivity in the short term. The yield potential of the model was approximately 500 t / ha of fruits, showing that there is a potential for increases in productivity over a long period. Increases in productivity in the short and medium terms are related to the State's support for research and rural extension, as well as policies for producers to access new technologies.
