ARCHITECTURE AS A FACILITATOR FOR HUMANIZED CHILDBIRTH

Abstract

This article addresses the humanization of childbirth and its practices, conceptualizing relevant aspects for an adequate environment for the delivery process, demonstrating the high rates of unnecessary cesarean sections in Brazil and the risks that this improperly applied procedure brings to the parturient and the newborn. It aims to analyze the importance of humanized childbirth, taking into account women's rights and aspects of the hospital environment. Therefore, the methodology used is a qualitative study with exploratory research, through articles, programs from the Ministry of Health, data collected from the World Health Organization and analysis of related works from birth centers. The results of this work show that the birth center has become an environment conducive to humanized care, following legal regulations, based on development programs to encourage humanized childbirth, which guarantees comfort and welcome during the assistance to the parturient woman. Therefore, humanization in childbirth has been making great progress so that childbirth is a safe and comfortable place for women to give birth, however, the training of professionals and the knowledge of women about the practices of humanization are essential.
